Gurdas Maan..The Living Legend.

 
Gurdas Maan was born on 4th January, 1957 in Giddarbaha, Muktsar District, Punjab, India. His song "Dil Da Mamala Hai" brought him to national attention in India in 1980. He has recorded over 34 albums. Gurdas Maan was formally educated in Malout. After completing his education, his parents moved him to Patiala for further studies. He is of Sikh faith. The city fascinated him especially because it was home to the National Institute of Sports, as Gurdas Maan is a keen sports enthusiast. He joined the N.I.S and gained a Masters Degree in Physical Education.

Asa Singh Mastana

 
Asa Singh Mastana (Punjabi: ਆਸਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਸਤਾਨਾ)(Surname- 'Blaggan') (1926–1999) was a Punjabi musician and singer, best known for lending his voice to the hit Bollywood film Heer. His well-known songs, among others "Balle Ni Panjaab Diye Sher Bachiye", "Doli Charhdeyan Marian Heer Cheekaan" and "Kali teri gut", have served as templates for later Punjabi musicians. His great work also expands to singing sad songs like "Jadon Meri Arthi Utha Ke Chalan Ge" to famous song "Main Jatt Yamla Pagla Deewana" dramtized on Dharmendra. He was mostly paired with Surinder Kaur or Prakash Kaur for singing many old folk songs of Punjab.Asa Singh Mastana was a Punjabi Musician and singer, best known for lending his voice to the hit Bollywood film Heer.

Attaullah Khan Essakhilvi

 
Attaullah Khan Essakhilvi is a well known folk singer and poet of Pakistan. He has a world record of the highest number of audio albums ever released by a singer. He is traditionally considered a Siraiki artist but mostly he has als recorded albums in the Punjabi language. The reason behind his astonishing success is that he sings only for the poor, desperate and afflicted. His voice has a healing effect and is considered on of the best folk singers Pakistan has ever produced. He has dominated the folk music scene of Pakistan for over thirty years. He gathers thousands in his audiences whenever and wherever he performs. He hails from the famous Niazi tribe. other famous Niazi people are Imran Khan the cricketer, Majid Khan (cricketer) and Muneer Niazi (Urdu poet). He has released smash hits such as Qameez Teri Kaali, Raatan and Mahi Wasey Mera. He has become one of the most well known singers in Pakistan. In his early years, the love of his life left him for another man and he turned to alcohol, but since then he has changed his ways. When he sing a song,his face and acting is very emotional.

Ghulam Ali..

Ghulam Ali (born 1940) is a Pakistani ghazal singer of the Patiala gharana born in the village of Kaleke in the Sialkot District of Punjab (now in Pakistan). He belongs to a musical family, his father was a vocalist and a sarangi player who initiated Ghulam Ali to music from his childhood. Ali’s father named him after Bade Ghulam Ali. At 15, he became a student of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, a master of the Patiala Gharana of Hindustani music. Due to the busy schedule of Bade Ghulam Ali, he was trained mainly by Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’s three brothers, Barqat Ali Khan, Mubarak Ali Khan, and Amanat Ali Khan, in Lahore.

Amar Singh Chamkila

 
Amar Singh Chamkila (Punjabi: ਅਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਚਮਕੀਲਾ) (July 21, 1960 – March 8, 1988) was a high-profile Punjabi singer, songwriter, and musician. He is widely touted as the most influential Punjabi folk singer of all time. This is an incredible feat as Chamkila sang for less than a decade. He is also regarded as one of the greatest Punjabi folk live stage performers. In his heyday, he was known to do three stage performances in a single day.

Ustad Lal Chand Yamla Jatt

 
Lal Chand Yamla Jatt ( March 28, 1914 - December 20, 1991 ) was a renowned Punjabi folk-singer from Punjab, India popularly known was "Ustad Ji". He was the doyen of the Punjabi Music and first singer that comes to mind who laid foundation of Punjabi music in Indian Punjab. He was widely revered as "ustad" among his singer contemporaries and as "yamla jatt" by his audience. His trademark was his soft strumming of tumbi and his Turban tying style known traditionally as "Turla".

The Wadali Brothers (Puranchand Wadali & Pyarelal Wadali) are Sufi singers and musicians from Guru ki Wadali in the Amritsar District in Punjab, India. Born into the fifth generation of musicians given to singing the messages of Sufi saints, the Wadali brothers dabbled in the most unexpected of professions before they became Sufi singers. While Puranchand Wadali, the elder brother, was a regular in an akhara (wrestling house) for 25 years, Pyarelal contributed to the meager family income by playing the role of Krishna in the village rasleela.

 
Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (October 13, 1948 – August 16, 1997), a world-renowned Pakistani musician, was primarily a singer of Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis, a mystical offshoot of Islam. Ustad Nusrat is credited with taking this traditional musical art form to an international level and creating a new generation of Qawwali lovers both in Pakistan and around the world. Traditionally, Qawwali has been a family business. Nusrat’s family (originally from Afghanistan) has an unbroken tradition of performing qawwali for the last 600 years. Among other honorary titles bestowed upon him, Nusrat was called Shahenshah-e-Qawwali, meaning The Emperor of Qawwals.
